France to Build Advanced Eco-Friendly Cruise Ships for MSC Cruises

MSC Cruises is set to reinforce its leadership in sustainable luxury travel with the order of two advanced World Class ships, scheduled for delivery in 2029 and 2030. These high-capacity vessels, each accommodating 6,774 passengers, will be built at France’s renowned Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard.

The new ships will incorporate cutting-edge alternative fuel technologies, including bio and synthetic liquefied natural gas (LNG), significantly reducing environmental impact. They will also feature methane slip reduction systems, shore power connectivity for minimized port emissions, and advanced wastewater treatment. This strategic expansion reflects MSC Cruises' strong commitment to eco-friendly operations, innovative onboard experiences, and meeting the growing global demand for large, environmentally responsible cruise ships. With these additions, MSC Cruises solidifies its position as a leader in sustainable maritime engineering, further enhancing its formidable World Class fleet which already includes MSC World Europa and MSC World America, with MSC World Asia (2026) and MSC World Atlantic (2027) also in the pipeline.
