United Airlines Launches New US-Southeast Asia Flights via Hong Kong

United Airlines has secured approval to launch new "fifth freedom" flights connecting the United States with Southeast Asia, offering a unique travel option for American passengers. Starting October 26, 2025, the airline will operate daily flights from Hong Kong International Airport to both Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi International Airport) and Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat International Airport). These flights will originate from major US hubs, Los Angeles and San Francisco, providing convenient access to two of the region's most vibrant cities.

The new services will utilize United's Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, known for their comfort on long-haul journeys. The aircraft features a four-class configuration, including business, premium economy, economy plus, and economy seating, accommodating 257 passengers.

This strategic move allows United to tap into the growing demand for travel to Southeast Asia, where tourism and business are booming. The route not only offers direct connections from the US but also allows travelers to easily move between Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition to this expansion, United is also increasing its presence in the Asia-Pacific region with a new service between San Francisco and Adelaide, Australia, starting December 11, 2025, and a second daily flight between San Francisco and Manila, beginning October 25, 2025. While the Southeast Asia flights have been approved, the Adelaide and Manila routes are awaiting final clearance. These expansions underscore United Airlines' commitment to strengthening its network in the Asia-Pacific and providing US travelers with greater flexibility and more options for international travel.
