Miami-Dade Tourism Hits Record Highs, Fueling Economic Boom

Miami-Dade County's tourism industry shattered records in 2024, welcoming over 28 million visitors who injected a staggering $22 billion into the local economy, the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) announced. This visitor spending generated $2.2 billion in state and local taxes and supported over 209,000 jobs, marking a new high. The county led Florida in hotel occupancy and ranked among the top U.S. markets for both occupancy and average daily room rates. Both domestic and international visitor numbers and spending saw significant increases. Key drivers included leisure travel, meetings, conventions, and major events. The GMCVB highlighted a total economic impact of over $31 billion, representing 9% of Miami-Dade's GDP and a 5% increase from 2023. Future growth is anticipated with developments like the Grand Hyatt Miami Beach convention center hotel and a strong lineup of major sporting events in 2026. Innovative programs focusing on international markets, convention sales, digital marketing, sustainability, accessibility, and multicultural tourism have been instrumental in this success.
