flydubai Resumes Daily Flights to Damascus, Syria After 12-Year Hiatus

Dubai-based carrier flydubai has recommenced operations to Syria with its inaugural flight FZ 115 landing at Damascus International Airport (DAM) on June 1st, welcomed by a traditional water cannon salute. This marks the resumption of daily flights between Dubai and Damascus after nearly 12 years, signaling a significant step in restoring air connectivity between the UAE and Syria.

The inaugural flight was greeted by a delegation including the UAE Ambassador to Syria, His Excellency Hassan Ahmed Al Shehhi, the Deputy Chairman of the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Abdul Bari Al-Saj, and the Director of the Authority, Mr. Amjad Nakhkhal.

His Excellency Hassan Ahmed Al Shehhi hailed the resumption as a reflection of the deep-rooted fraternal relations between the two nations and a testament to the UAE's efforts to enhance regional connectivity and economic ties. He expressed hope that this would pave the way for the full return of UAE national carriers to Syria, offering high-quality services to the Syrian people. He also reiterated the UAE's steadfast support for Syria's security, stability, and progress.

Hamad Obaidalla, Chief Commercial Officer at flydubai, stated, "flydubai has a longstanding commitment to further enhance connectivity in the region and we are very pleased to offer our passengers the opportunity to fly directly to Syria again. As an important cultural centre in the region, we look forward to serving the market and stimulating free flows of travel, trade and tourism between the two countries.”

Flights to Damascus International Airport (DAM) will operate daily from Terminal 2, Dubai International (DXB), effective June 1, 2025.
