Finnair Pioneers Airline Retailing with World's First 'Native Order'

Leading Nordic airline Finnair has launched the world's first 'Native Order', marking a significant step in modernizing airline retailing. On Monday, May 5th, Finnair CEO Turkka Kuusisto made the inaugural native order on Finnair.com, booking a flight from Helsinki to London Heathrow. This new system, aligned with IATA's One Order directives, manages all customer order details in a single record, moving away from traditional Passenger Name Records (PNRs).

This transition to an 'Offers and Orders' model, in partnership with technology provider Amadeus, allows Finnair to create personalized and seamless experiences for travelers, offering dynamic product bundles and enhanced ancillary sales. Finnair aims to simplify processes, improve communication with partners, and gain agility to differentiate its services. The move signifies a major technological and business transformation for Finnair, paving the way for a more customer-centric approach in the airline industry.
